My name is Maria Papenfuss and I’m delighted to have joined the Department for the Study of Religion on May 1^st, 2022. Apart from my work supervised by Prof. Dr. Bochinger, I’ll coordinate the XXXV. Conference of the DVRW.

After my Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies with a focus on religion here at the university, I mainly focused on Afro-American religions as part of my Master's degree in Cultural and Communication studies in Mexico City. Afterwards, I organized the last DVRW conference hosted by the Institute of Religious Studies at the University of Leipzig, among other academic activities. I am currently writing my dissertation on the topic of Neopaganism in Mexico and look forward to teaching topics on this and related fields.
